MICROPROD Policy Conference – “Productivity in transformative times”

MICROPROD’s partner Bruegel is hosting  online the very first MICROPROD Policy Conference, which will take place on the 22nd and 23rd February.

This policy policy conference will discuss how productivity is affected by globalisation and digitisation, drawing on outputs and findings from the research carried out by the MICROPROD teams.

Several pannel dicussions will be held throughout these two days, on topics such as:

  • Factor allocation: how to improve European dynamism | Chair: Eric Bartelsman, Professor, VU University Amsterdam

MICROPROD’s partner Bruegel is hosting  online the MICROPROD 3rd Policy Dialogue, which will take place on 18th January 2022 at 12h30 CET.

This policy dialogue will will tackle how Global Value Chains (GVC) and productivity affect the fourth industrial revolution.

The conversation will be chaired by Maria Demertzis, BRUEGEL Deputy Director, who will discuss with Carlo Altomonte (UB), Eric Bartelsman (STICHTING VU), and Margit Molnar, Head of the China Desk, OECD Economics Department.

European Research Workshop in International Trade (ERWIT) 2021

The CEPR’s European Research Workshop in International Trade (ERWIT) 2021 is to be held in Milan from 20 to 22 October 2021. It is organised in cooperation with Università degli Studi di Milano, Centro Studi Luca d’Agliano, the Baffi Carefin Centre of Bocconi University and MICROPROD.

ERWIT is an annual workshop that brings together international economists from across Europe and key researchers from outside the region. The workshop disseminates the findings of recent research on international trade, and presentations often involve exploratory rather than finished papers. It provides a unique opportunity to discuss trade-related research in a relaxed atmosphere. ERWIT 2020 took place virtually last year and the video recordings from ERWIT 2020 are available to watch on the following Youtube playlist.

If the workshop can take place physically, it will run for 3 full days from Wednesday 20 October until Friday 22 October. The afternoon of Friday 22 October will be dedicated to MICROPROD.

The deadline for paper submissions is 18:00 (BST) on Sunday 2 May 2021.

MICROPROD’s partner Bruegel is hosting  online the MICROPROD 2nd Policy Dialogue, which will take place on 18th March at 13h00 CET.

This policy dialogue will bring together different stakeholders to show preliminary evidence based on firm level data on France, Germany and Italy on how the pandemic and subsequent aid given has affected their level of productivity.

The event will contribute to better understand the so-called ‘cleansing’ effects, the role of loans and grants provided, heterogenous effects across industries and geographical regions and impacts on industries new registrations and defaults.

A joint workshop with GLOBALINTO project on intangibles

On October 29th 2020, MICROPROD will join forces with its sister EU-funded project GLOBALINTO, in order to debate several discussion papers originating from both projects’ research dealing with intangibles. This online workshop will end with  a panel discussion focussing on policy recommendations.

On October 21st-23rd 2020, the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) will host its 2020 European Research Workshop in International Trade (ERWIT) online as a webinar, organised in cooperation with Università degli Studi di Milano, Centro Studi Luca d’Agliano, the Baffi Carefin Centre of Bocconi University and the Horizon 2020 MICROPROD Project. ERWIT is an annual workshop that brings together international economists from across Europe and key researchers from outside the region. The workshop disseminates the findings of recent research on international trade, and presentations often involve exploratory rather than finished papers.

9th CompNet Annual Conference 2020

MICROPROD’s partner CompNet is hosting its 9th Annual Conference! The full-fledged conference has been postponed to February 2021, but a short online event will take place on the 22nd of September. It will include a keynote speech by Marc Melitz where he will present the special chapter he co-authored in the CompNet Firm Productivity Report and a policy panel tentatively titled “How Covid-19 is reshaping international trade and capital flows” with Philip Lane (ECB), Gian Maria Milesi-Ferretti (IMF), Caroline Freund (WB) and Beata Javorcik (EBRD).
